Take Five: Our Digital Distractions

Take Five

Right, it’s Thursday and we don’t know about you, but we’re just about ready for the weekend. It’s been a long, hard three and half days, so we think you deserve a break.

So here’s Take Five, a collection of things that have halted productivity at Phones 4u HQ this week. Kick back, relax and enjoy the best the internet has to offer- tell your boss we said it’s OK.

An awesome beard video

We’re advocates of the beard at Phones 4u – 62.5% of the team have pretty gnarly ones, and that’s just the ladies – so we were overjoyed to find this chap dedicating a whole video to his. It’s downright awesome, and will make you want to start growing one.

Holy Grail of retro games

Everyone knows you’re not a real hipster unless you indulge in a bit of retro gaming, so finding a website with every Sega Mega Drive game ever made, ever, is like some sort of treasure trove. The best bit is that ssega.com is playable straight from your computer, so you can kiss goodbye to anything you intended to get done this afternoon.

City of 2050

The future? Hopefully not

Ever wondered what the world will be like in 2050? Course you have, and so have the BBC it seems. Some of them have taken a look into the future and knocked together a mock-up of how it will all look and, to be honest with you, it’s pretty weird. ‘Farmscrapers’, anyone?

Another video, but this time it’s a country music classic slowed down. Not an appealing concept on paper, granted, but it turns Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’ into a moody, smouldering masterpiece.

Best ever movies

Best Movies Map

And finally, one for the movie buffs out there – here’s the best movies of all time in a London Underground-style map, complete with a key and everything. Whilst we may disagree with some entries – Finding Nemo wipes the floor with WALL-E, not even sorry – it’s a great way to waste half an hour.
