P4u App’raisal: Quidco
Shopping is ace. The majority of people are fully aware of this fact, hence all the greedy money grabbing credit and store card folks rubbing their greasy palms together every time we fail to say no to that new pair of shoes we’ve just GOT to have. But now it’s time the shops started giving back, because frankly they’ve held all the cards (not credit – we’ve got all them) for so long that we’re really skint. Luckily an app has come along in the nick of time to save not only the day and loads of cash to boot.
Quidco is the UK’s first app that actually pays users to check in at various locations using their smartphones. It uses GPS technology to show you the deals nearest to you, or lets you search by selecting location, category or your favourite stores. All you do then is simply visit the store, check in, and get cashback through your Quidco account. For example, visiting Halfords would earn you 20p, so if you’re having a bit of a shopping spree on the high street imagine how much you could clock up simply by browsing around! There’s also personalised deals and exclusive discounts available from some retailers, so you’ll get paid to check in, and probably save a packet too, if you make a purchase that is.
With 3,000 retailers currently signed up, you’re sure to find a participating store nearby. As well as earning money for checking in, there’s also in-store cashback available in certain places, whereby you register your credit or debit card to your Quidco account then use it to make a purchase. Upon completing the sale, you’ll automatically get a percentage of what you’ve spent reimbursed. Winner.
If you’re hungry while you’re doing all this heavy duty shopping, then use Quidco to get discounts in restaurants too. Or if you’re feeling a bit lazy and you can’t be bothered to leave the house, you can still get cashback for purchases you make online. It’s a massive win-win for both you and the stores, so download the app, register yourself, then get shopping!
