O2 has announced its new 4G tariffs ahead of the upcoming roll out on 29 August, as competitor Vodafone also launches its own high speed network on the same day. The two providers will be joining EE who stuck the 4GEE flag in the ground way back in 2012.
SIM-only deals will be starting at £26 per month for 1GB of data plus unlimited minutes and texts. This offering matches EE’s monthly charge but comes under Vodafone’s 2GB monthly deal for the same price.
As data packages increase, the monthly price will of course follow suit. For example, if you were after 5GB of data you would be looking at £36 per month with O2; however Vodafone can offer an 8GB package for the same price. EE also offer a superfast package of 20GB data at £61 per month.
Superfast internet access will be available on the O2 4G network in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and Southampton – planning to reach 20 million UK residents by Christmas.
To celebrate the launch of its 4G network, O2 are hosting a night with Plan B at its Shepherd’s Bush venue on 29 August with priority tickets available to all O2 customers.
