HTC One S To Stop Receiving Software Updates

Device to miss out on Sense 5.0 as well

Bad news for HTC One S owners; the company has announced it won’t be getting an upgrade to Android 4.2, or any other software for that matter.

Despite having had the nod for the initial release of Android Jelly Bean, last year’s upper mid-range sensation hasn’t made the cut for future instalments, meaning users will be stranded on the first iteration.

The same is also true for the firm’s Sense 5.0 UI, the fancy home of BlinkFeed first seen on the HTC One, with the One S destined not to receive the overlay despite other handsets being strongly tipped to.

Speaking via a statement, a company spokesperson broke the news that the device will upgrade no more. “We can confirm that the HTC One S will not receive further Android OS updates and will remain on the current version of Android and HTC Sense.

“We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed the HTC One S to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences.”

Not good news then, and further to the fact that the HTC One is still yet to receive its long awaited upgrade to Android 4.2, there are bound to be a few users less than impressed with the Taiwanese firm at the moment.
