Bogus Blower? Speculation Over New Samsung ICS Smartphone
Industry insider Eldar Murtazin has leaked an image on Twitter supposedly showing a new Samsung handset running Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
The pic of the mysterious mobile was posted by Murtazin yesterday and shows a device that looks not dissimilar to the Galaxy S II, only the buttons beneath the updated to support Ice Cream Sandwich’s jazzy software nav keys.
However, whilst many have been getting excited, others have viewed the leak with a bit more cynicism and speculation that the photograph is a fake is already mounting.
The folks over at Android Community have labelled the blower as bogus, stating the Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the Galaxy S II that have been leaked so far look nothing like the screenshot on the device in the picture.
They also question the quality of the image, pedantically poining out that ‘you can see errors in the photo itself: bad stitching on the left and right bezels and artefacts below the screen’ suggesting that it is ‘probably where some modification has taken place to adjust the capacitive buttons’.
Whether the phone is real or simply a photoshopped fake remains to be seen, but with Mobile World Congress just around he corner, if there is anything in it, the chances are that it’ll crop up there. Watch this space.
