Advance! New Samsung Galaxy S Takes A Bow
There’s a new star shining in Samsung’s galaxy after the Korean firm put recent rumblings to bed by officially announcing the Samsung Galaxy S Advance.
Sammy’s latest blower joins the mid-range ranks of this elite family of star-trooping smartphones and although it’s not set to change the world, it’s still kitted out with a pleasing range of specs.
Taking front and centre is a 4-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1GHz dual-core processor and 768MB of RAM providing the horse power. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is the operating system of choice and naturally, that comes sprinkled with TouchWiz and a host of other Samsung goodies including ChatON, Find My Mobile and the usual Hubs.
Other tech highlights include a 5 megapixel snapper with 720p HD video recording, a 1.3 megapixel peeper round the front and either 8GB or 16GB worth of internal storage.
Samsung’s top dog JK Shin said of the new device: “The Galaxy S Advance adds to the successful track record of the Galaxy smartphone range with a phone that combines power and style with all the versatility of Samsung’s Hub services.”
Sammy has kept tight-lipped on exactly when the galactic smartphone will be hitting shelves but did reveal that Russia will be getting it first when it does eventually drop.
There’s no word on a UK release or pricing yet but tech types reckon the Galaxy S Advance will be showing up at Mobile World Congress in a few weeks time where it could be joined on stage by the Samsung Galaxy S III. This will be one to watch, folks!
